Myth becomes ever nearer to reality.” — the Buddha “A story invented as a veiled explanation of a truth.” — Webster’s Dictionary “A metaphor for what lies behind the visible world.” — Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth “Myth embodies the nearest approach to absolute truth that can be stated in words.” — A. K. Coomaraswamy, Hinduism & Buddhism A myth is a story. In the context of the Personal Inner Hologram, everything is mythical as the entire universe — both inner and outer, real and imagined — is reflected on the same inner screen and made with exactly the same raw materials. Therefore, everything that you see, feel and experience in your inner hologram is made of light, images, sounds, space and energetic impulses that are woven together to make concepts and stories that are often identifiable and understandable to you, the viewer. The content of your hologram ... the material that you see, experience, discuss and interacting with inside yourself ... you call that your life and it forms your personal reality. You can easily see that your thoughts are mythical in nature as they are parts of stories that are woven into the larger story of your life. And when viewing this website, you are invited to see science as also mythical in nature, from the point of view of the Personal Inner Hologram. Let me explain with a simple example ... For instance, we all know that it is a scientific fact that “the sun rises in the east.” We know what that means. But what has just happened, is that in the sentence above, we’ve just told a story composed of 6 words that reflects a truth. Inside of us, as we heard the story, perhaps we flashed on the image of a brilliant golden sun rising over a silhouetted horizon. Hence, the 6-word scientific truth — “the sun rises in the east” — in our here-and-now presence, is just a 6-word story to stimulate a holographic image to instantly arise in yourself and convey a meaning. It is a reflection of a truth conveyed in words. “The sun rises in the east” is a sequence of words, to stimulate holographic content and meaning to arise inside yourself, for you to experience. The idea that “the sun rises in the east” is a scientific fact is true, but it is just an idea that reflects a truth. The truth is actually encoded in the reality of your inner holographic experience, and that is as close as you can get to the scientific truth of “the sun rises in the east.” Hence, science is conveyed as stories, too. You can extrapolate this to all types of scientific information and expressions ... as all the data is conveyed as stories made of words, numbers, images, video, graphs and art ... that is conveyed to you, the observer, to make meaningful connection arise INSIDE yourself. Mythology is a collection of myths belonging to a people and addressing their origin, history, deities, ancestors, heroes, events, individuals, institutions, values, dreams, inspirations, points of view, ideals, customs, mind-styles, life-styles and cultural ideals. To further explain myth and metaphor, I’ve found this excerpt from The Power of Myth with Bill Moyers to be clear and insightful:
